At Capdepera, you can find one of the largest castles on the island, originally built in the 13th century. Further along the road from the castle is the quiet medieval town of Arta, where you can see the 14th century Sanctuary of Sant Salvador. Not to be missed are Arta’s ancient caves filled with stalagtites and stalagmites. There is also a bus service that runs from nearby Cala Rajada that offers a guided tour around the caverns.
Canyamel has a friendly, inexpensive restaurants scattered along the beachfront, offering traditional Spanish and Italian fare. For more restaurants and bars, head to the fishing village of Cala Rajada only ten minutes away. This has become more popular with tourists in recent years, and you’ll have plenty of choice of places to eat and drink around the quay in the evening.
