Why go on holiday to Campanet?
Set in the north western region of Raiguer, Campanet is a picturesque inland village surrounded by mountains and pine forests. Enjoy the peaceful location at the foothills of the Tramuntana Mountains and visit the historic churches and atmospheric caves. It’s perfect for couples or anybody looking for a quiet break in an unspoilt part of Majorca, away from the bustling beach resorts.
Attractions/Activities whilst on holiday in Campanet
There are plenty of opportunities to hike in the beautiful countryside, stroll along the cliffs and explore the traditional villages in the area. As well as the country estates and historic inns dotted around the region, one of the main points of interest is the Gothic church of San Miquel on the Tel plain, which is Majorca’s oldest church. The imposing parish church in Campanet itself is worth a look, as is the 13th century well at the entrance to the village.
Be sure to visit the Caves of Camponet, discovered in 1945, to see the remarkable stalagtites and stalagmites and that have formed over millions of years.
If you fancy a day at the beach, take a short drive to Alcudia or Puerto Pollensa.
It’s definitely worth considering hiring a car for your trip, as public transport from Campanet is limited. Buger, five minutes drive away, is another little village with a slow pace of life and you can enjoy a candlelit dinner on a terrace at the village of Binibona. You could also visit nearby Old Pollenca and the town of Inca, famous for its leather goods and hosting one of Majorca’s biggest markets every Thursday.
You can be sure of a truly authentic culinary experience in Campanet, which has been virtually untouched by tourism. The excellent restaurants in the village offer a variety of tapas and traditional Majorcan cuisine, and there is also a supermarket, three bakeries and a delicatessen to stock up on snacks for the day. You could also head to Inca to enjoy a meal at one of the town’s converted wine-cellar restaurants.
Holidays to Campanet are more about daytime strolls and relaxed evenings than staying up in bars to the wee hours. The sleepy village has a few excellent restaurants and laid back bars, or you might choose to spend the evening in Inca which has a greater selection of bars and eateries to choose from.
