Introducing Playa del Ingles
Playa del Ingles is the largest and most popular resort town on the island of Gran Canaria. In fact, after Benidorm, it is the largest resort of its kind in all of Europe! The resort attracts a wide range of nationalities, with many of the holidaymakers here coming from Britain, Germany and Scandinavia.
This is a great destination for anyone in search of a party atmosphere – the resort caters for a great number of 18-30s style weekend breaks, and particularly during the peak months of July and August, the resort comes to life with the sound of nightclubs, live bands and street performers.
Playa del Ingles is just a short transfer away from the main Las Palmas airport; flights from the UK to Las Palmas International Airport (LPA) will take approximately 4 hours 15 minutes.
Playa del Ingles Holidays
Playa del Ingles is built on a level area of ground, unlike many of the other Gran Canaria resorts, which often seem to be perched on the side of mountains; it means you won’t have to work quite so hard as you explore around the town, which is a good thing too – Playa del Ingles is a large resort, with plenty to see and do.
The resort can be broken down into a total of twelve commercial centres, each one featuring its own accommodations, shops, bars and amenities – you’ll find all the basic necessities here, including banks, supermarkets and post offices. Beyond that, the different parts of town each have their own particular flavour. For example, head to Kasbah for the pick of the clubs, or to San Fernando for its fantastic shopping facilities.
Perhaps the main attraction on a holiday to Playa del Ingles, is the superb range of beaches. Enjoying a mild year-round climate, you’ll find the warm Atlantic waters are the perfect place to go for a swim, while the wide sandy beaches offer plenty of great spots for sunbathing, or playing games. There is also a wide selection of water sports on offer in the area surrounding Playa del Ingles, and these include some exciting pastimes such as windsurfing, jet skiing, kayaking and diving. As you explore the resort you’ll come across a number of diving schools, offering both lessons and guided tours in the waters around Playa del Ingles.
Cheap Holidays in Playa del Ingles
Being the most popular resort in the Canary Islands, Playa del Ingles is often assumed to be more expensive than other beach destinations. This is true in part, but the resort covers a large area, and if you’re prepared to shop around you’ll be able to find some great deals on a holiday to Playa del Ingles.
