To enjoy the sunshine and soak up some rays, visiting the beach is a must on a Tarajalejo holiday. Being a volcanic island, the main beach is made up of black sand and pebbles. Stretching for over a kilometre, the beach is very much an untouched area. Sunbeds aren’t provided but the sea is very calm which makes it perfect for swimming and cooling off in. A little further along the coast is the second largest town named Gran Tarajal, where there is a light sandy beach complete with a wide promenade to enjoy.

The town square in Tarajalejo is the main place for locals to meet and where events such as fiestas and live concerts take place. If you’re visiting in May be sure to visit the annual fiesta here which provides a vibrant atmosphere. Other places of interest include the D7 modern art gallery which is home to a number of paintings and sculptures by German artist Klaus Berend which you can purchase if you wish, and also the town’s marine museum, complete with an aquarium. Tarajalejo is near to another popular Spain holiday destination. Click here for more information on holidays to Jandia
