Deep blue seas

If you are looking for deep blue seas and blue skies, there’s a spot in the southern portion of Spain you might like to investigate; that's right folks, we're talking Costa Tropical. Often known as Costa Granada for its association with the town at its centre, Almunecar, this area has a serene mixture of beauty found in not only the coastline and its water based pursuits, but also for how the sheer mountain sides jut out to the water's edge, creating quite a varied landscape.

Holidays to Costa Tropical keep you busy

While there are many holiday destinations that offer great beaches, Costa Tropical has far more than that. In the mood for some paragliding in the morning, followed by mountain horse riding in the afternoon and clubbing in the evening? You can do that here.

Keeping busy in this part of the world is certainly not difficult. Prefer to keep your toes wet? Costa Tropical features some of the best water based activities of any holiday destination. The water is wonderfully warm and with its underwater wildlife, you can enjoy yourself above the waves as well as beneath. Like scuba diving? It's here. Like snorkelling? Here too.

Prefer your water sports to take place in less salty conditions? Well thankfully there are nearby marinas at Motril and Marina del Este where there are water parks available which feature slides and traditional swimming pools.

With the beautiful mountain backdrop, opportunities for exploring are high. There's the aforementioned horse riding, cycle paths and hiking tracks that let you investigate the surrounding hills at your own pace. The palace of Alhambra in the city of Granada is also worth a visit.

However, the night time activities in Costa Tropical are also well famed. Spaniards are known for their love of the nightlife and they show it utmost respect in this area of the country, with most clubs staying open until 7am; sometimes until noon. While these might be to your taste, if you want a feeling of exclusivity, look out for word of mouth invitation to one of the hidden beach parties. They're common but hard to find without directions; though they're well worth it if you can make it.
