Val Thorens ski resort

There are eight ski resorts in total in the Three Valleys area, accessible by the 200 ski lifts. With 600km of slopes, equal to 2,500 hectares of runs, this is the largest ski area in the world.

The lofty altitude and sophisticated snowmaking network means skiing in Val Thorens is possible from November right through to May.

As well as the 68 marked runs and plenty of slopes for off-piste adventurers, there are several snowparks featuring bordercross tracks, quarter pipes and jumps for acrobatics and snowboarding. You’ll find challenging red and black runs at the La Masse ski area, while beginners and intermediates will be delighted by the rolling blues and reds of St Martin de Belleville. Advanced skiers can try out the slopes of the 3200m high Cime de Caron, while there are opportunities for all levels at Funitel and the sunny, unspoilt gem of Orelle.

Val Thorens is a haven for skiers and snowboarding, and there are also plenty of other activities to try. Hike over glaciers, climb frozen waterfalls, go husky sledding or try out air-boarding. You could also explore the magnificent scenery with some tranquil cross-country skiing. There are plenty of opportunities for indoor activities like swimming and squash and in the town you’ll find a range of shops and boutiques, as well as a cinema. Val Thorens hosts year-round sports and entertainment events, so there is always something worth seeing.
