The parish of Canillo is ideally perched in the Valleys of Andorra. The country in south-west Europe is neighbours to France and Spain, making it a popular destination for its great weather. Canillo is a great place to visit if you want to see a real traditional community and witness their folk music events in their historic language of Catalan. The town is famous for their winter sports and roller hockey. The town and the surrounding areas are rich in outdoor activities such as mountain biking, skiing, fishing, and camping. In Canillo you can enjoy their many historic buildings of Roman influence which make for great photo opportunities. You can enjoy their duty free stores and get some unique products to take home for you and your friends. The village also hosts carnivals and festivals seasonally which allow you to indulge in their culture and truly feel at home.

Your holiday to Canillo

This charmingly humble village is the only place in the country where traditional folk dances like the contrapas and the marratxa still survive. The atmosphere in the bars and discos are reminiscent to lively Spanish fiestas, but you will see that they are uniquely Catalan in character. You can see these dances and get involved in the local venues which are scattered on the homely high streets.

The country is well known for their passion for outdoor sports. Canillo is an ideal place to experience the spectacular nature with endless valleys for you to stroll in, ride through on a mountain bike or even a horse. A short drive away from Canillo is the Naturlandia Tobotronc, one of the major highlights of Andorra. They are home to the world’s longest alpine coaster and have an ice skating rink in their vicinity. They also offer paint balling and dog sled rides amongst many other activities available.

The town is buried in mountains with a total of 65 mountain peaks in the country; which truly does make for stunning sights. You can go out of town to visit the highest mountain in the country, the Coma Pedrosa, which rises to a colossal 9,652 foot.

Dated from the 12th century, the nearby Sant Serbi de Nagol church is worth a visit. It has Romanesque designs and unbelievable views of the surrounding landscape. They also offer a free guided tour, allowing you to get immersed in their history.
